Dr. Sheba Katz

PhD, NCSP, LP, LSP

Dr. Sheba Katz is a licensed psychologist, nationally registered psychologist, licensed school psychologist, and nationally certified school psychologist. In her therapy practice, Dr. Katz uses a multi-systemic approach. This means that she incorporates the influence and support of family structure, school and work environment, as well as community when building a treatment plan and managing behavior. Stylistically, Dr. Sheba Katz utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), structural family therapy and Behavioral Therapy into interventions.

Dr. Katz specializes in working with families during times of transition including adoption, divorce, re-marriage, co-parenting, relocation, and changes in caregivers. Specifically, she has extensive experience is in working with high-conflict divorce cases including by court-ordered therapy and court-appointed psychological evaluation. In addition, she conducts assessments for children in fostercare to assist with pre-adoptive placements and treatment planning.

Educationally, Dr. Katz received her PhD from an American Psychological Association (APA)-accredited Program at Florida State University in Combined Counseling Psychology and School Psychology. She completed her predoctoral and postdoctoral internships at Fort Worth and Dallas Independent School Districts. These experiences helped her to build her diagnostic and treatment skills with autism spectrum disorders and neurodevelopmental disorders. Dr. Sheba Katz also has experience providing services in the following settings: hospital, juvenile detention facility, jails, several family and adult counseling centers, public and private schools, university, career center, and private practices. 

Professional and Community Groups

Dr. Sheba Katz has served as a Board Member, Newsletter Editor and Conference Planning Chair for the Florida Association of Family and Conciliation Courts (FLAFCC) (www.flafcc.org). Additionally, she has served on the Florida Psychological Association’s Education and Communication Committees. Dr. Katz has acted as the President for the following organizations: Southwest Florida Association of School Psychologists (SWFASP), the Florida Psychological Association-Calusa Chapter and a local nonprofit, Adonis Autism Assistance Foundation. She is an active member of the American Psychological Association (APA) (www.apa.org), Florida Psychological Association, National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) (www.nasponline.org), Association of Family and Conciliation Courts (AFCC/FLAFCC) (http://www.afccnet.org), and Association of Family Law Professionals (AFLP) (www.swfl-aflp.com).
