Andrea Mojica is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor dually licensed in New York and Florida. She attended Le Moyne College for her Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology and earned her Masters Degree in Mental Health Counseling from SUNY Oswego. She earned another Master’s Degree from Syracuse University in Public Administration with a focus on healthcare. She additionally has personal experience with the foster care system as she received certification as a foster parent in NYS. Andrea has utilized her skills to structure and teach courses for adults looking to become certified as a Credentialed Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor. Other courses and continuing education credits she has taught have been centered around ethics, self-care, treatment planning, Self-harm and suicidal behavior, and utilizing play in conjunction with other evidenced based treatment models.
Throughout her time practicing mental health counseling she has obtained credentialing as a certified Child Centered Play Therapist (CCPT) and supervisor of CCPT. She has received additional training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Sand Tray Therapy. Other modalities she utilizes in her practice are Person Centered Therapy, skills from Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Solution Focused Therapy. She has experience working with anxiety, depression, trauma, family conflict, mood disorders, emotional dysregulation, substance use concerns, and relationship issues. Throughout her career not only has she has provided mental health services for individuals and their significant others and/or family members, but she was also the director in charge of the development and expansion of a Child and Adolescent dual focus-mental health and substance use disorder-Clinic. Andrea has been practicing mental health counseling for over 10 years and is looking forward to continuing to provide support to the community with Katz Counseling and Educational Psychology.
