Dr. Lisa Arseneau is a licensed psychologist who works with children, adolescents, and adults. She has a broad range of assessment experience conducting evaluations for differential diagnosis, treatment planning, educational planning, vocational decision making and legal cases. In addition, she utilizes evidenced-based interventions to treat AD/HD, disruptive behavior disorders, developmental disorders, autism, obsessive compulsive disorder, learning disorders, depression, and anxiety.
Educationally, Dr. Arseneau received her doctorate from an American Psychological Association (APA)-accredited program in Clinical Psychology at Oklahoma State University. She completed her APA-approved predoctoral internship at the University of Alabama at Birmingham located in Birmingham, Alabama and her postdoctoral residency at Katz Counseling and Educational Psychology. Dr. Arseneau’s dissertation examined the contribution of working memory to academic achievement in children diagnosed with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
Dr. Arseneau has experience in a variety of settings including: outpatient community mental health facilities, inpatient medical units, university-based clinics, private practice, and Veterans Affairs. These experiences have helped to strengthen her skills in assessment, individual and group psychotherapy, and parent training interventions. Dr. Arseneau uses a multi-systemic approach to treatment, recognizing the influence of family, school and work, and community on behaviors and treatment. Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and Behavioral therapy approaches are primarily utilized.
Dr. Arseneau holds office hours for client appointments Tuesday and Wednesday only.
Dr. Arseneau currently holds the position of Secretary/Treasurer for the Florida Psychological Association: Calusa Chapter. She is a member of the American Psychological Association (APA) (www.apa.org), Association for Psychological Science (APS) (www.psychologicalscience.org), Society for Research in Child Development (SRCD) (www.srcd.org) and Florida Psychological Association (FPA) (www.flapsych.com).
