Most recently, Dr. Ainsley’s work has focused on the development of broad theoretical perspectives on human nature and the impact these views have on treatment approaches.

Clinically, Dr. Ainsley has trained in community clinics, college counseling centers, and a VA hospital. She has facilitated groups focused on distress tolerance skills, strategies for understanding and managing symptoms of anxiety and depression, recognizing the effects of traumatic experiences, and women’s and LGBTQ+ mental health. Dr. Ainsley completed her pre-doctoral internship at the Florida Gulf Coast University counseling center where she provided individual and group therapy, completed psychological evaluations, and focused particularly on the impact childhood experiences and relationships have during early adulthood and the transitional period of late adolescence.

Dr. Ainsley has experience conducting comprehensive evaluations to assess for AD/HD, emotional dysregulation, and learning problems including dyslexia, dysgraphia, and dyscalculia. Dr. Ainsley has a strong background in CBT, ACT, motivational interviewing, and other evidence-based approaches in addition to training in contemporary psychoanalytic theory. She is currently a candidate at the Florida Psychoanalytic Center where she is particularly interested in interpersonal and relational psychoanalytic approaches. This work aims to effect change through deepening the understanding of conscious symptoms, bringing about increased awareness of the self and its impact on relationships and experiences.

Dr. Ainsley utilizes a variety of evidence-based practices to target symptom reduction and promote individual well-being.
